原題「Elton John / Your Song」
1970年4月10日リリースのセカンドアルバム「Your Song」のトラック１。アルバムは全英４位、全米11位を獲得。アメリカでは同年10月にシングル「Take Me to the Pilot」のB面としてリリース。しかしディスクジョッキーにはB面である「Your Song」の方がA面の「Take Me to the Pilot」より好まれ、結果的に全英７位、全米８位を獲得する。
邦題「エルトン・ジョン / 君の歌は僕の歌」
歌詞は作詞家のバーニー・トーピン、作曲はエルトンが担当した。1969年、ロンドン郊外のエルトンの母親のアパートの台所にあったメモ帳にトービンが歌詞を書き、朝食をとっている間にエルトンが10分足らずで作曲したという。ジョンは後のインタビューで、「『Your Song』は歌っていても飽きないため、ライヴで唯一欠かしたことのない曲」だと語っている。1998年、グラミーの殿堂入り（Grammy Hall of Fame）。
