放題「ソドム / エージェント・オレンジ」
「Agent Orange」とは枯葉剤のこと。
枯葉剤とは？
枯葉剤とは、６０年代ベトナム戦争時にアメリカ軍がベトナムのジャングルに潜むゲリラをあぶりだし、畑を枯らし兵糧を途絶えさせるために散布した化学兵器のこと。枯葉剤はダイオキシンを大量に含んだ薬品で、ダイオキシンの毒性はなんとサリンの２倍、青酸カリの1000倍と言われている。この猛毒によりベトナムでは多くの罪のない犠牲者が生まれ社会問題となった。枯葉剤を浴びたベトナム人は燃えるような皮膚の熱さに苦しみ、多くの死産、流産、奇形児を生んだ。
歌にするにはあまりに「ヘヴィ」過ぎるこの内容を、あえて歌にしたのがこの「Agent Orange」だ。過激すぎる歌詞のためにあまり脚光を浴びることのないこの曲だが、ギターがとにかくかっこいい。なぜこのリフにこの歌詞を載せてしまったのか、、、もっとポップに、もっと能天気なメタルだったら、スラッシュメタルの歴史に残る名曲になったであろう。（そうでなくても十分名曲だが)
